Postcard from Yellowstone

Goals

  • Create a quilt using the 2026 QuiltCon Challenge fabrics in a medallion style that showcases the essence of Yellowstone National Park.

Instructions

  1. Each member who chooses to participate will get to select which part of the medalion they want to work on.

    1. Center will be a spiral representing the morning glory pool

    2. Trees - Improv technique

    3. Mountains - using paper piecing

Creating the Trees

Goals

  • Trees are supposed to be organic in nature; therefore, no two trees need to be identical!

  • Each tree block "Space" is 8x8 finished (8 1/2"x8 1/2" unfinished)

  • There can be one or two trees in your "space"

Instructions

  1. Each member who chooses to participate will get to design improv trees

    1. Get your Kit. Pink for the trunk, Greens (Blend options for green part, light teal for sky)

    2. Design your trees. You can completely improvise, piece together, or sketch and create your trees. You are your own Bob Ross!
